The Spine Institute of Louisiana, a regional center of spine care excellence, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to add to its team of clinical professionals.  This practitioner will work directly with the Spine Institute’s newest Neurosurgeon/Spine surgeon, who will be joining our practice in September 2009. The extenders at the Spine Institute of Louisiana act as an extension of the physician, working side by side with the physician in both the clinic and surgery settings.

Responsibilities include:
• First assist (neurosurgery & spine cases)
• Hospital rounds
• Initial evaluations
• injections
• Pre-op and Post-op H&P’s
• Prescriptions
• Coordinate with Physical Therapist and ATC’s
• Ordering tests and evaluate X-Ray, CT scan and MRI
• Seeing Patients in Clinic and Ultimately Running a Clinic Independent of Physician

The position averages 45 hours per week with minimal weekends and  evenings.
