Orthopaedic/Trauma and Reconstruction
Seeking energetic, full-time PA interested in providing medical and surgical care to patients in inpatient and outpatient setting under supervision of Orthopaedic/Trauma and Reconstructive Surgeon. Work in fast pace clinic environment, OR and 2 hospitals (600 & 243-licensed beds, Lead Level III Trauma Centers) in South TX. M-F work schedule, plus 1 weekend call coverage/month. Competitive salary and benefits package. Duties and Responsibilities Ability to perform medical exam with knowledge of patient care, patient history and clinic operations and procedures, assist in viewing and interpretation of x-rays and fluoroscopes. Apply cast and OCL splints. Perform dressing change and wound care. Work together with nursing staff in scheduling operating room procedures. Complete appropriate documentation of all evaluations, medical care and services rendered in the medical record. Provide pre- and post- operative patient education to patient and their families. Make appropriate referrals and communicate with referring or primary care physician regarding patient care and treatment. Have knowledge of drugs and their indication, contra-indications, dosing, side effects and proper administration. Under supervision of Physician, make appropriate adjustment and/or changes of medications. Ability to supervise medical staff in the absence of Physician and communicate any changes on patient schedule or office procedures. Together with attending Physician, research online medical applications for programs or courses related to Orthopaedics, Trauma and Reconstructive surgery.
