This Orthopaedic Surgeon handles sports cases (knees and shoulders), total joint and general arthroscopic surgery. This opportunity is a 45 to 50 hours work week with minimal call coverage! The new PA's will provide surgical first assist (approximately 25% of position), evaluate injuries, write scripts, injections, some fracture reductions, aspirations, removing casts and pins, consultation and patient evaluation and education, reviewing lab results in both a clinic and hospital setting. Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified/eligible, highly motivated, hard working, and able to work well with others in a team-oriented environment. Previous orthopaedic/surgical experience not required, but new graduates must have completed Orthopaedic rotations and prefer Orthopaedic preceptorship. Prefer candidate who has southern ties! The location is only 40 minutes to downtown Atlanta. The area provides reasonable cost of living, strong schools, all season outdoor activities, low crime, and great golf. Certified Physician Assistant program. Provides medical care to Piedmont Hospital patients under the direction of a supervising physician. Performs Central Line placement, Vascath placement, PICC lines (infrequently) and possible Swan-Ganz. Significant experience with these types of procedures is required. Identifies the appropriate catheter for patient, manages central venous catheters, develops plans of care that minimize complications, and successfully troubleshoots problems when they arise. Must be experienced with both short-term catheter and long-term catheter placement. Must be familiar with preventative and treatment strategies for all complications. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients to achieve optimal patient care. Must have knowledge of and follow all applicable INS, CDC, and OSHA guidelines. The best candidate will be a PA who has been working with an interventional radiology group or a surgical service who has performed at least 50 Central Lines, 40 Vascaths, and 40 Arterial Lines who could provide documentation of # of procedures performed.
