This is a level II Trauma Receiving Center with an annual patient volume of 44,000. The Emergency Department including Fast Track was recently renovated and possesses a “State of the Art” department with all brand new technology and a beautiful décor.  The Provider will work in the Fast Track of the ER which generally sees higher acuity level of patients and also will work in the “Portal” with the ER Physicians. 

Emergency Medicine Experience required including ACLS life support.  Provider must possess great interpersonal skills, communication skills, be flexible, provide excellent customer service, and move patients through the ED timely and efficiently.  The position is designed for those individuals that enjoy unique and challenging cases and like to work in a busy, friendly, environment.  The ED has a great group of skilled nursing and Physician staff.

As a result of unprecedented growth at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, our Plastic Surgery Department is searching for an additional Physician Assistant to complement our team of three surgeons and three midlevel providers.  We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, dynamic physician assistant to join our practice that is ensconced in an atmosphere of teamwork and mutual respect.

This Physician Assistant, under surgeon responsibility and supervision, performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physicians to extend their knowledge in the sphere of decision making required to establish a diagnosis and to plan the appropriate therapy.  Assists in gathering the data necessary to implement the diagnostic and therapeutic plan of the physician.  Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients of all ages.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: assists Surgeons with pre and postoperative care, H&P’s, first or second assist surgery, electronic medical record usage, computer competency, travel to outreach clinic sites, participation in rounds and the call schedule.

At this time the position is primarily based at Danville. Travel to outreach clinic required.

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following: performs H&P’s, provides pre- and post-procedural care, CMG’s, urodynamics, first or second assist in surgery, which may occur after scheduled hours, participation in rounds and the call schedule, accurate and complete charting in both the hard copy and electronic medical record, computer literacy, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, instill confidence and facilitate communication with patients.

The successful Physician Assistant candidate will require completion of a CAAHEP-approved physician assistant program, NCCPA certification or eligibility through Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine licensure.

The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
