Physician MD/DO HONOR ROLL

There is an opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to assist orthopedic surgeons at a hospital in Southern Oregon. The basic job functions of this position would include surgical assists in the OR for ortho patients, rounding on 
ortho patients in the hospital, and performing evaluations and follow-up care in our outpatient clinic.  

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience with surgical, trauma or orthopedics in an acute care setting.This position reports directly to the Orthopedic Surgeon while maintaining a working relationship with staff in all 
departments including physicians and all floor staff. Evaluates trauma patients across the continuum of care, beginning with the admission phase and through discharge.  Coordinates with Trauma Team regarding assessment, including performing and dictating H&P and writing orders.  Collaborates with case managers, staff nurses, and other members of the trauma team on plan of care for patients.  Initiates and follows up on diagnostic evaluation and testing and communicates results with Orthopedic Surgeon. 1)Rounding on 
all orthopedic inpatients, 2)Sees all orthopedic trauma patients during the day, 3)Admits patients from the ER, and 4)Assists in the OR. NP or PA spends approximately 70% of his time rounding on patients.

NO DEA needed but must have Texas liscense. Cannot use FMG's. Majority of patients are pain management but we treat all medical problems, including some acute problems. We also treat a small Hispanic population for blood pressure and diabetes.
