Rapid expansion and recent growth of the College of Nursing has led
to several newly created faculty positions.
July 1, 2006 is the target date for filling the positions, but positions
will remain open until filled. All positions are full time, 12 month appointments.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with academic and experiential background.
Associate Dean for Research
The Associate Dean for Research will provide leadership and guidance
for faculty efforts to obtain extramural funding and publish faculty generated
scholarly endeavors. Collaborates with the College of Nursing Department
Chairs and the Dean of the College of Nursing to develop, implement, and
evaluate strategic processes and activities that foster the research and
scholarship mission of the College of Nursing.
Successful candidates will have an earned doctoral degree in nursing,
an active program of research, a history of extramural funding from varied
agencies to support scholarly endeavors, educational and or administrative
experience in a nationally accredited university with graduate programs,
experience in clinical nursing, and a record of scholarly publications.
The Associate Dean will also provide creative leadership and have the ability
to mentor faculty, be eligible for appointment as a tenured full professor,
and must be recognized by peers as a scholar in nursing.
Director, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program
The DNP Program Director will provide oversight of our established
DNP program and work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs,
graduate option coordinators, and faculty on matters of curriculum, strategic
planning, and academic program development and compliance with policies
and regulations of certifying and accrediting bodies.
Successful candidates will have an earned doctorate in Nursing, appropriate
credentials in an advanced practice specialty and be eligible for APN licensure
in Tennessee. Education and/or administrative experience in a nationally
accredited university with graduate programs are desired.
Coordinator, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Option
The FNP Program Coordinator will provide oversight and direction for
the FNP program and work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs
on matters of curriculum, strategic planning, and academic program development
and compliance with policies and regulations of certifying and accrediting
bodies. Successful candidates must have an earned doctorate and experience
as a Family Nurse Practitioner and be eligible for APN licensure in Tennessee.
Previous didactic and clinical teaching experience in an FNP program is
preferred.
Coordinator, Public Health Nursing (PHN) Option, DNP Program
The PHN Option Coordinator will provide oversight and direction for
the DNP PHN program and work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic
Programs on matters of curriculum, strategic planning, and academic program
development and compliance with policies and regulations of certifying
and accrediting bodies. The Coordinator will also serve as Principal Investigator
of a federally-funded grant to expand the program and change the framework
of the option to one focusing on health disparities. As PI of the grant,
the Coordinator will supervise a full-time Project Director and lead other
members of the grant team in accomplishing the grant’s objectives. Successful
candidates must have an earned doctorate and experience as a Public Health
Nurse working at the population level. Previous didactic and clinical teaching
experience in a PHN program is preferred.
Assistant Program Director, Nurse Anesthesia Option
The UTHSC College of Nursing invites applications for the position
of Assistant Program Director, Nurse Anesthesia Option. Successful candidate
must be a graduate of an approved nurse anesthesia program and hold a master's
degree, an earned doctorate preferred, from a regionally accredited institution.
Candidates should be able to competently administer all forms of anesthesia,
have at least 3-5 years experience, hold current CRNA certification, and
be eligible for APN licensure in Tennessee. Previous didactic and clinical
teaching experience in a CRNA program preferred.
Assistant Professor, Adult Health
Successful candidates for tenure-track positions will have an earned
doctorate in nursing, MSN with clinical specialty, teaching experience,
a scholarly program of research or practice, and RN licensure. Tenure-track
faculty will have opportunities to teach across programs. Minimal requirements
for non-tenure track, clinical positions include a MSN with clinical specialty
in Adult Health and RN license. Experience teaching in BSN program and
web-based instruction desired. Rank and salary will be commensurate with
academic and experiential background.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Faculty
This is a part-time, non-tenure track faculty position in the Psychiatric
Doctor of Nursing Practice program. Full time residency in Tennessee is
not a requirement due to the online nature of the distance program, but
some travel to the college will be required.
Primary responsibility is development of child and adolescent psychiatric
nursing content and best practices for integration into the current psychiatric
DNP curriculum. Other responsibilities include developing the content,
activities and clinical experiences for placement online. Candidates
also need to be knowledgeable of health promotion and rehabilitative strategies
for integration into the psychiatric curriculum.
Licensure as a RN, a master’s degree in child and adolescent psychiatric
nursing and certification in the specialty are required. Teaching experience
using online strategies and an earned doctoral degree in nursing or a related
field are preferred.
