Asher Community Health Center (ACHC) is a federally qualified health
center in the scenic John Day River Valley. The John Day River is
one of the longest free-flowing rivers left in the contnental US.
It has world class small mouth bass fishing, river floats through roadless
areas, elk, antelope. We are the only medical provider in Wheeler
County--1700 square miles of ranches, juniper grasslands, rimrock, and
coniferous forest. Fossil (pop 450), the largest of 3 towns, has
the main clinic, good schools, art & theater groups.
We are only 3 hours from Portland and 2.5 hours from Bend with is Central
Oregon skiing.
There is currently one NP at the main clinic. We are hiring a
2nd physician colleague (PA OR NP) to expand service to 2 satellites--one
a school-based health center. This will be a 4-day 32-hour workweek
with rotating on-call with the other provider. You need to love rural
life, be capable of largely independent practice, have a firm grasp of
emergency medicine. $64,000-$68,000 per year plus benefits.

The ED Fast Tract Nurse Practitioner will provide healthcare to a wide
range of patients within the guidelines established in the Scope of Practice.
Requires a Master of Science degree with advanced training, knowledge,
skills and clinical competence. The ED Fast Track NP is able to function
at an advanced level to ensure a good outcome for the patient. The
ideal candidate will be board certified as a Family Medicine NP or Acute
Care NP with additional training in pediatric care. Will have current
certification in ACLS and PALS as well as federal and state DEA certification.
Will be under the sponsorship of an ED physician on the medical staff at
Kershaw County Medical Center and works under the supervision of the ED
physician present in the ED.
