Physician Assistant,  Electrophysiology/Cardiology

 An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Physician Assistant to join our Electrophysiology/Cardiology department. Under the supervision of an Attending Physician, you will perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive patient care activities. Specifically, you will perform pre-procedure evaluations, including H&P and consent; provide medical care and post-procedure arrhythmia management and evaluation of hospitalized patients and unscheduled walk-ins, including 12 Lead EKG Interpretation, anti-arrhythmic drug and anti-coagulation drug therapy using established protocols and guidelines; develop understanding of Device Management; and first assist in implantation of cardiac devices, EP studies, and Cardiac Ablations. You will also obtain and evaluate the clinical resources provided to patients, incorporate invasive cardiology core measures into your practice, monitor ICD Registry Data Collection and submission in accordance with Regulatory Guidelines, and identify regulatory agencies’ (JCAHO/CMS) requirements related to professional practice.

 To qualify, you must be a graduate of an AMA approved Physician's Assistant Program and have a current registration by the NYS Department of Education as a Registered Physician Assistant (RPA). The ideal candidate will have experience with Electrophysiology/Cardiology. Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is preferred.

Full-Time Faculty Position in
Physician Assistant Program

Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) has a full-time faculty position open in the Physician Assistant Program.  This program is 27 months in length and currently enrolls 50 students per year.  We anticipate increasing enrollment to 80 students per class by January 2013. This expansion is the reason for our current faculty search. We will be moving into a beautiful new medical education and research building in summer 2011.

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record in Physician Assistant education, clinical practice, research and related scholarly activities, and a commitment to continued professional development.  We seek an energetic colleague who functions well in a team environment, and who can inspire and motivate students while being an effective role model.  Clinical practice within EVMS Health Services is encouraged.  Faculty rank and salary are based on education, clinical, and teaching experience.

THE ANTICIPATED START DATE WILL BE July to August, 2011.

QUALIFICATIONS: Current NCCPA certification, Masters Degree strongly preferred, five or more years in clinical practice preferred, and current eligibility for Virginia licensure.

Full-time PA Faculty Position – The University of Toledo

The University of Toledo (UT) invites applications and nominations for a full-time (1.0 full-time equivalent) faculty member in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies.

This is a 12-month tenure track position for a core faculty member in the Department with primary responsibilities of teaching in the didactic portion of the program while also playing an integral role in various activities within and outside of the Department. Examples of these activities include participating in the admissions process, scholarly activity, student advising, sitting on college and university committees. The schedule for this position is four days per week of departmental duties and one weekly release day to pursue further education, scholarly activity, or clinical practice. Necessary qualifications include: possession of a masters degree in a related discipline (doctorate preferred) and at least 2 years of professional clinical practice experience (clinical practice as a PA-C is preferred). Experience in physician assistant education and precepting graduate-level healthcare students is preferred. Graduation from an accredited graduate-level healthcare program, current professional practice certification, and eligibility for registration/licensure in the State of Ohio are required.
