Rhode Island Hospital currently has Physician Assistant opportunities available in our Orthopedics, Urology and Plastic Surgery departments.  General duties include a number of medical procedures, including pre intra and post-operative management of patients, assistance with surgical procedures, wound care, and others.  Writes admission, pre-operative and post-operative orders for patient care.   Physician Assistants will work in Emergency Department as well as outpatient clinics and inpatient units.

All positions require:
-Current licensure as Physician's Assistant in the State of Rhode Island.
- An extremely high level of analytical ability in order to apply post-surgical training to the treatment of patients.
- Good interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with patients, families and other healthcare personnel.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

EXPERIENCE: Three months on-the-job training and experience to become familiar with job responsibilities and work routines. A minimum of two - three years of experience as a PA in pertinent related area is preferred.

-Bachelor's Degree in Biology and two years of graduate study in an AMA approved Physician Assistant program.
-previous experience in an academic medical center environment preferred.
-Current license (or eligible) as Physician Assistant in the State of Rhode Island; Federal DEA certificate;
-State -Controlled Substance Certificate in RI, and ACLS trained.
