Clinical Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies
-12 Month Starting Date: May 1, 2011

Qualifications: The ideal candidate is a physician assistant with a terminal degree (MSPA) and experience teaching in an accredited physician assistant program.  Experience in coordination and/or supervision of clinical physician assistant education is preferred.  Current physician assistant licensure or eligibility for licensure is required.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include teaching in and coordination of the clinical year of the physician assistant program.  Opportunities for clinical practice, grant development, and involvement in local and international service learning initiatives are available.  Candidates who are innovative and value a dynamic and comprehensive approach to curriculum, instruction, and physician assistant practice in an interdisciplinary environment are encouraged to apply.  

Rank and Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.

The MSPAS program is a provisionally accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).  The program will begin the education of the first class of students in June 2011 at the newly renovated, state of the art, 55,000 sq. ft. interdisciplinary graduate teaching and research facility.  Opportunities also exist for continued clinical practice.

Med-Express (Fast Track) is staffed with a combination of MDs, PAs, and APRNs.  The ED cares for over 73,000 patients per year and is designated as a Level 2 Trauma Center and Stroke Center. In April 2011, Saint Francis will open a new leading-edge Emergency Center with 70 treatment areas, 13 ambulance bays and a rooftop helipad for Lifestar landings.
