Located in Bracey, VA, near the shores of beautiful Lake Gaston, Tanglewood Family Medicine is now in its 18th year of serving the lake community.  Dr. Bailey, founder and sole-physician, has been employing 2 Advanced Practice Providers, one of whom is leaving in mid-December. This rural practice is fully self-contained with 9 exam rooms, a procedure room, X-ray, full lab, and limited pharmacy.  The closest hospital is 25 minutes away in South Hill, VA.

The position is full time, 4 days per week. Family medicine can be very challenging, and Dr. Bailey and our Advanced Practice Clinicians have always enjoyed a day off during the week to rest up and take care of all those mid-week things that are hard to accomplish working a 5 day position. We are open on Saturday mornings, and the 2 Advanced Practice Clinicians (currently one FNP and one PA) and Dr. Bailey rotate these.  The salary is competitive. Starting out, there are 10 paid holidays, 2 weeks of paid vacation (in addition to every Tuesday off!), a week of personal leave, and a week of educational leave (with a stipend!).  Full medical and dental, a retirement plan with matching employer funds, fully paid licensure fees and a number of AFLAC policies round out the short list of benefits awaiting the chosen candidate for this position.  Perhaps the greatest benefit is the working relationships we have with one-another.

The University of the Sciences (USciences) is seeking a highly qualified Physician Assistant (PA) to serve as the founding director of its developing professional PA Studies Program and chair of the Department of PA Studies. This program will be located in Samson College of Health Sciences, one of five health and science-related colleges at USciences. The program is on the ARC-PA agenda for provisional accreditation in September 2012.

Position: The founding director and chair will be responsible for developing the professional PA Studies Program along with the dean, program faculty, and other stakeholders. He or she will take the lead in presenting the program to the Pennsylvania Board of Education and ARC-PA. The director/chair will have full executive responsibilities for all aspects of the PA program including clinical placement sites, clinical preceptors, adjuncts, Pennsylvania faculty, and PA advisory board. The founding director and chair will report directly to the dean, Samson College of Health Sciences. This is a 12-month, tenure track position; rank and salary are commensurate with credentials and experience.

Qualifications: The founding director and chair must hold the minimum of a master's degree in PA Studies; be certified by NCCPA; be eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania, and have at least five years experience in an academic faculty position or equivalent teaching experience. An earned doctorate or matriculation in a doctoral program is highly preferred. The successful applicant must be an innovative leader and scholar with excellent personnel and management and budgetary skills, and should be familiar with the accreditation process.
