This
sixth-in-the-series, two-day teleconference will combine six surgical demonstrations
performed live from Lenox Hill Hospital in the morning with lectures by
international leaders in our field in the afternoon. The focus will
be placed on the most recent advances in the surgical treatment of Heart
Valve Diseases, Left Ventricular Failure, Aortic Arch Aneurysms, and Chronic
Atrial Fibrillation, with emphasis on the less invasive approaches including
percutaneous techniques. A moderating panel will facilitate interaction
between the audience and the faculty.

This
one-day symposium is comprised of an elite faculty with specific focus
on valvular heart disease in the young adult and elderly, as well as complex
mitral valve issues. Each session will commence with a case study
presentation followed by the viewpoints from one of the invited cardiologists
and cardiac surgeons. The “Rapid Fire” session offers presentations
for both cardiologists and cardiac surgeons on valves in heart failure,
aortic valve repair (state-of-the-art), percutaneous valve repair and replacement
(is surgery passé?) and tricuspid valve disease (the forgotten valve).
In the “Master’s Hour” you will have the unique opportunity to discuss
leading questions with our honored guest, Professor Alain Carpentier, who
will be reunited at this symposium with his original Le Club Mitrale team.
